About TermPlanner

TermPlanner is a free planner for pupils, parents and teachers in England and Wales, built on the term dates their school actually runs on. It is made and run by TermPlanner, based in United Kingdom. It is not connected to any council, school or the Department for Education.

What it is for

Every planner app knows what day of the week it is. Almost none know that next Monday is an INSET day, that half term starts on the 26th, or that your school runs a two-week timetable. TermPlanner starts from the published school year and builds the timetable, tasks and calendar on top of it, so a deadline lands on a day you are actually in.

Where the dates come from

The 2026/27 term dates for 146 local authorities are transcribed from each council’s own published calendar, and the council’s own document is shown on the page beside them, with the school holidays listed on their own. The 2,117 school pages are read from each school’s own website or the document it publishes, because a school’s INSET days are its own and an academy can set a different year from its council altogether. 7 universities are transcribed by hand from their academic calendars.

Every page links to the source it was read from. How the reading and checking works, and what is done when a school’s document and its council’s disagree, is written up on how the dates are organised.

How accurate is it

As accurate as the document it was read from on the day it was read. Councils revise dates, academies change their minds, and a letter home can overrule a website. Each page says when its dates were last checked, and the cardinal rule on every page stands: check with your school before booking anything around a holiday.

If you find a date that is wrong, please tell us. A wrong date is fixed within days, and the school’s or council’s page is updated with it.

What it costs

The planner is free and the term dates always will be. A Premium plan for printing the whole year and for the themes is described on the pricing page; while the site launches, all of it is free for everyone.

Your data

The planner lives in your browser. Nothing you put in it is sent to us unless you ask to be emailed. The privacy policy says exactly what is collected and why, in plain words.
