Privacy policy

This policy explains what TermPlanner does with information about you. The short version: your planner stays in your browser and is never sent to us; the only personal information we hold is an email address you chose to give us, and it is used only for what you gave it for.

1. Your planner stays on your device

Everything you put into the planner - your school, timetable, subjects, tasks, chosen dates, theme and settings - is stored in your browser’s local storage on your own device. It is not transmitted to our servers, we cannot see it, and clearing your browser’s site data deletes it. A backup you download is a file on your device.

There are no user accounts yet. When accounts arrive this policy will be updated before anything changes, and nothing already on your device will be uploaded without you choosing to.

2. When you give us an email address

We ask for an email address in two places, and only when you choose to:

• “Save my planner” - to tell you when accounts open so you can keep your planner across devices. We store the address, the date, and the public web address of the school or council page you were on (so we can say which dates you were using). Not the planner itself.
• Premium - to send you a receipt, a code, or word that Premium has opened, depending on what you asked for. We store the address, which plan you chose, and the date.

The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw by emailing us. We do not add you to any other list, and we do not sell, rent or share addresses with anyone for their own purposes. Addresses are held until the purpose is done (you have been told, or have asked to be removed) and then deleted.

Where a form service or email provider handles these addresses on our behalf, it does so under a contract that limits it to that purpose. Payments, when Premium opens, will be taken by a payment provider on its own secure pages; we never see or store card details.

3. Cookies and local storage

TermPlanner sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It uses local storage - a store on your device that is not sent with requests - to keep your planner, your chosen theme and print settings, and whether you have dismissed a message. These are essential to the site working as you set it up and are not used to identify you.

4. Server logs and analytics

Like every website, our hosting provider records requests as they arrive: the page requested, the time, the browser type and an IP address. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, are kept for a short period, and are not combined with anything else to identify you.

If we add usage analytics, it will be a privacy-respecting service that counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking, and this section will say which.

5. Content from elsewhere

School and council pages show those organisations’ own published calendars, logos and website addresses, which are public. Following a link to a school’s or council’s own site takes you to their privacy policy, not ours. The site loads its own fonts and scripts from its own servers or from a content delivery network that does not track you across sites.

6. Children

The planner is used by pupils. It is designed so that a child can use it without giving us any personal information at all: nothing they type into it leaves their device. The email forms are intended for parents, teachers and older students; we do not knowingly collect addresses from children under 13, and will delete any we learn of.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to its use, or withdraw consent. Email hello@termplanner.co.uk and we will answer within a month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

8. Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a change that affects what we collect will be announced on the site before it takes effect. Questions about any of it: the contact page.
